Sarah Haithcock is the Director of Nurse and Patient Care
Retention and the International Nurse Program at Duke Health.
With over 25 years of nursing experience she focuses on efforts
to recruit and retain nursing talent through a multitude of
program initiatives including professional development,
recruitment strategies, meaningful recognition, supplemental
staffing and international nurse recruitment.
Sarah has led a small team to on-board over 300
internationally-educated nurses into Duke Health over the past
two years. Program analysis demonstrates successful performance
and retention outcomes with the on-boarding and support
strategies designed by this team. Previous to this role Sarah
served 9 years in progressive leadership roles within Duke
Health’s Neonatal ICU. She holds a Bachelor of Science from the
University of NC at Wilmington and a Master of Nursing Science
from Queens University. She is an active member of AONL and an
advocate for healthcare worker immigration.
